Magnesium Chloride is a chloride salt with the formula MgCl2. This highly water-soluble ionic hallide can be found in brine, sea water, and old evaporated seabeds, where it will sometime be extracted alongside sea salt. Anhydrous magnesium chloride is used as a precursor material in magnesium metal processing.
* Magnesium chloride is the third most commonly dissolved mineral in seawater.
