Titanium Dioxide

Titanium Dioxide is a compound that is can be produced from mined ilmenite. It is valued for its optical and structural properties which make it a useful material in situations where optical, pigmentation, and dispersion results must be more precise and refined.
Titanium Dioxide is most well-known as a whitening agent and brightening agent, and can be found in products that are typically white for example, papers and paints. It is also an important material to the industries of Coating, Ceramics, Chemical, Food, Personal Care, and Plastic.

Titanium Dioxide is used in the personal care industry as a bulking and thickening agent, opcacifier, and brightening agent. It is especially common in sunscreen, face & body powders and make-up, nail polish, and toothpaste.

The same brightening effect that makes titanium dioxide a sought after additive ingredient by manufactures seeking to make an aesthetically desirable product, is also responsible for its ability to deflect the sun’s UV rays, via light-scattering dispersion.
