Bentonite

Bentonite

Bentonite is currently defined by Wilbur C. Knight as: An absorbent aluminum pyllosillicate clay consisting mostly of montmorillonite. Bentonite clays are usually named by the most dominant element present, which may be Al, Ca, K, or Na.
Generally speaking however, there are two main types: calcium or sodium bentonite; each type having their own special characteristics and properties.
