Bentonite
Bentonite is generally defined as an absorbent aluminum pyllosillicate clay consisting mostly of montmorillonite. Bentonite clays are usually named by the most dominant element present, which may be Al, Ca, K, or Na. Na,Ca)0,3(Al,Mg)2Si4O10(OH)2•n(H2O).
Industrially, calcium and sodium bentonite are the two most popular; each type has their own special characteristics and properties.
