Yttrium Oxide
Yttrium Oxide, Y2O3 is an air-stable, white solid substance. It is a common precursor material for both organic and inorganic compounds. It is a useful material that can be used as a precursor-material, creation of yttrium iron garnets, sputtering targets, high-temperature superconductor yttrium barium copper oxide, various phosphors including phosphors with medicinal applications. Another important application of Y2O3 is the production of Yttria-stabilized zirconium dioxide ceramics.
Additional Notes:
* Yttrium has one natural stable isotope, 89Y.
* Where one rare earth element is found, yttrium is almost always present as well.
