Cobalt Oxide
Cobalt Oxide, CoO, is a metal oxide that is usually a grey or black powder, although it may also be a red or olive green crystal.
Ceramic glaze and flux:
Cobalt oxide is a popular ceramic glaze and flux material for several reasons: it has both a high melt and dispersion rate, is not effected by reduction or oxidation, and is used in both blue and black glazes. At the same purity levels, cobalt oxide is a stronger glaze than cobalt carbonate, CoCO3.
