Ilmentite

Ilmentite, an iron titanium oxide mineral with the general formula: FeTiO₃, is is the primary ore of titanium.

In spite of this material’s black/grey reflective appearance, it is a main source of global TiO₂, a metal oxide compound that is well-known for its whitening and brightening properties.

* Titanium metal can be alloyed in small amounts to other metals to create much stronger, more light-weight, and longer lasting alloys.
